Types Of Hepatitis

Hepatitis is characterized by swelling and softer of liver and occasionally can cause permanent damage to the organ. Hepatitis is caused by viruses and generally consist of several types, including hepatitis A, B, C, D, E and G.

Most types of hepatitis are A, B, C. All the types of hepatitis have almost similar symptoms but different modes of transmission and its complications. Hepatitis A, e.g is transmitted through the consumption of foods and drinks that have been contaminated with hepatitis A virus (HAV).

Among all types of hepatitis, hepatitis B tends to cause severe symptoms and complications. Hepatitis B transmission occurs through sexual intercourse with individuals who has been infected or contact with the blood or body fluids of infected person with hepatitis B virus (HBV). The virus also can be spread to babies born from mother infected with HBV.

The other type, hepatitis C tends to be chronic and can be transmitted through by using syringe or contaminated blood transfusions or organ transplant procedure. Transmission of hepatitis C can also occur trough the use of shared razor, toothbrushes or nail clipper contaminated with hepatitis C.

Like hepatitis C, hepatitis D transmission also through sharing the syringe and sexual intercourse with individuals who has been infected. While hepatitis E transmission is almost the similar transmission with hepatitis A, which is through the consumption of foods or drinks that have been contaminated in endemic area (which have poor sanitation). In addition the factors above, hepatitis also can be caused by alcohol, drugs and certain chemical substances.
