Dysmenorrhea - Painful Menstruation

Dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation) incurred prior to and during menstruation, is characterized by symptoms of abdominal cramps on the bottom. These symptoms are caused of the high production of prostaglandin hormones. Although it’s not harmful but symptoms of dysmenorrhea may be quite severe and can even interfere with daily activities.

Facts Dysmenorrhea
  1. Dysmenorrhea can be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cold sweats and dizziness
  2. Although it’s not life threatening, dysmenorrhea can reduce the activity in women age less than 30 years old
  3. One risk factors for dysmenorrhea : an early onset of puberty (under 11 years old)
  4. In 1970-1980’s, the researchers found that the menstrual blood of women who experience abdominal cramps on bottom turned out contain high levels of prostaglandins.
